Time for Youth
Time for Youth (TfY) supports 200 young people each year, working
on estates which have some of the highest levels of poverty, poor
health, unemployment and crime in the country.
Aimed at reducing Anti Social Behaviour (ASB), it offers intensive
support, guidance and mentoring for young people who are at risk
of offending, and getting caught in the homelessness-crime cycle.
Support from East Foundation enabled Time for Youth to extend its
services to a younger age group, reaching 11-15 year olds, as well
as expanding its work with young adults up to the age of 24.
A range of out-reach work takes place to identify the issues which
give rise to ASB, and provides diversionary activities, group work
programmes, and mentoring. This includes swimming, football and
‘boxercise’ sessions, as well as courses aimed at addressing
specific issues such as car crime.
